The July match was a total success! We had 20 shooters in attendance...several of whom were first timers and/or guests.
It was great to see all the new faces.
It goes without saying that it was hot. What can you expect from an outdoor match in late July. A breeze would have been nice, but I don't think there was much of one the whole day.

A couple of folks brought pop-up shelters that provided some welcomed protection from the relentless sun. Thank you!
On to the results:

CoF1 - 5 + 1 Speed Drill.
At the buzzer, engage target with five shots to the body and one to the head.
Limited.

CoF2 - Ballroom Blitz.
You are providing security at a ballroom function. You hear screams and advance through a hallway to clear each room as you come upon them. Open the door to the right and engage the two threats in the room. Proceed to the window on the right and engage two targets in the room, then clear the room on the left and finally engage the remaining targets to the rear. Reload as needed; two scored shots on all paper.

CoF3 - El Presidente.
Begin in the surrender position, with your back to the targets.
At the buzzer, turn, draw and engage target one with two shots to the body and one to the head.
From slide lock, reload and then engage target two with two shots to the body and one to the head.
Limited.

CoF4 - Top Shot Challenge - Freestyle.
At the buzzer, engage the five targets with two shots each, working from outside to in, swapping from left to right.
Limited.

CoF5 - Top Shot Challenge - Strong Hand and Weak Hand.
At the buzzer, engage the five targets with one shot each, working from outside to in, swapping from left to right with your strong hand. Switch to weak hand and continue by engaging the five targets with one shot each in reverse order, working from inside to out, swapping from left to right
Limited.

CoF6 - Retreat.
At point blank range, the shooter engages the first target from the hip with two shots, then engage the other two targets with two shots each while retreating. Once shooter retreats behind barricade on right, engage remaining two targets with two shots each. Unlimited.

CoF7 - Paper-Steel-Paper from behind cover.
At the buzzer, engage targets with two shots to each paper and one shot to each steel, in order, slicing the pie, from behind cover. Unlimited.

Total Points Down.

The after-match luncheon was held at The Thirsty Parrot. The food was as tasty as always (although the fries had a bit of onion ring flavor...not necessarily a bad thing). I have to admit the service was better this time than it has been in the past.

I would like to thank all who attended and participated with set-up, taping, and clean-up. I hope to see you all out again in August. Let us all cross fingers for cooler, dry weather. Laughing

Congrats to XD_Dan. Wow, great times!

Sure looks like a wonderful time and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to attend and meet all the new folks. I will be at the August Match for sure!

Thanks Tony. I am pleased with my performance. I felt like I was "in the zone" the whole match....just comfortable, despite the heat.

I think this is the first time I got low points down for a match. Usually, there is one scenario where the wheels fall off. Perhaps it was a good thing that we didn't shoot 8 scenarios. Laughing

First of all I had a great time. Everyone was friendly, helped out, and were very encouraging. Second looking at the results, the two Top Shot challanges KICKED MY BUTT. Combined they were 44 of my 56 points down. I think I know what type of shooting to be practicing this month. Look forward to coming again next month.

I am hooked!

Glad to hear it! We always like to hear when someone has found a new passion for the shooting sports. Especially our shooting sport! Cool

Is it just me, or does it seem odd that it takes me about the same time to get off 6 shots standing still facing a single target, as it does to get off 10 shots on 5 targets while moving backwards! Confused

I couldn't agree more with Jon.
Glad to hear you had a good time, David. I hope to see you return often. When cooler weather sets in, it is even more enjoyable.
